Senior State Tournament Begins on Saturday, July 25th in Bristol and Middletown
WELCOME!
The State Committee, Zone Chairman, and I are really looking forward to the 2009 American Legion Baseball Season.
Building upon last year's success (Waterford and Greenwich winning the senior and junior championships respectively, and Bristol and Greenwich winning the New England Regionals), we have made the following important changes for the upcoming season:
1) the State Tournament will be wood bat only (7 of the 8 zones will be using wood during the regular season)
2) eligibility rules have been tightened up to ensure that all players have the proper commitment to their teams
3) games during the play-in portion of the Junior Tournament will be played at the higher seeded team's field - similar to the High School Tournament
In addition, hopefully everyone notices our new website developed by Dan Salce and Build 'N Serve Internet Services. Dan, who is also one of the top umpires in the state, came well recommended and did a great job in my opinion. Also want to thank Jamie Boucher, who volunteered hundreds of hours developing and keeping up our previous website.
As the snow thaws and spring quickly turns to summer, we are all looking forward to a great season in 2009. This program has a long and excellent tradition (past), please help us chart a new and even brighter future.
